Franklin's Focus - November 16th 2009 - A long time ago, I predicted that NYC would see an epidemic of  mesothelioma and asbestosis resulting from the massive blanketing of the city by dense clouds carrying astronomical amounts of microscopic asbestos fibers. A single such fiber is easily breathed in, unless one is wearing a highly specialized mask.

These microscopic fibers easily penetrate buildings around the edges of windows and doors, ergo countless apartments were contaminated in NYC. The only building that was quickly made safe was the office building of the U.S. Health Department. Officials instantly saw the impending danger and moved with great speed to seal their building. Special masks were quickly given to all their employees, including Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, who paraded around the scene of the demolitions with her super mask while assuring New Yorkers that the billowing clouds of dust were harmless.

You can bet her clothes were properly decontaminated or destroyed following her visits outside the home building. (There has to be something wrong with people like Sebelius, a missing gene, or something.)

The fate of countless New Yorkers was thusly sealed. A huge number are doomed to die a horrible, slow death that will often drag out for several years. The time it takes for the disease to become apparent varies considerably, but is usually measured in years. It takes considerable time for a microscopic fiber to grow to such a size that it seriously impedes breathing and ultimately kills a victim who can no longer breath sufficient oxygen to live.

A microscopic fiber enters the lung, then burrows into a spot on the lining of a lung. There it proceeds to grow and grow and grow. One day the carrier starts to have problems breathing. His or her lungs are no longer able to adequately do the job that evolution had assigned to the victim. The slow death, lasting many months, is painful, ugly, and totally debilitating.

The media has robotically printed whatever the mendacious and conniving U.S. Health Department has fed to them. The signs of a growing plague were dismissed by our government with fallacious arguments and false information.

So how do I know the plague has begun? I know because a longtime reader kindly sent me the attached copy of a lengthy report by UK's Guardian on the appearance of a stunning plague in NCY, a plague caused by dust heavily laden with asbestos fibers.

Bush, Cheney, and Peenack killed 3,000 people with deadly explosives. 

They also signed a death warrant for an unknown number of New Yorkers, who will die a horrible death over the coming months and years. Many of these victims will be spouses and families of the first on-the-scene firefighters. Workers who cleaned out the debris, were put into extreme danger. Many victims will be core family members of cleanup workers, firemen, police officers, and so forth.

You see, firefighters and clean up workers returned home to their houses and apartments and seriously contaminated those environments with asbestos fibers that had penetrated their shirts, trousers, socks, underwear, and so forth. The home air quality was ruined for an unknown number of infants, toddlers, teens, and adults, who now have been condemned to die lingering, horrible deaths some time in the future.

Our federal government has known this since day one, and it has kept a lid on the true story of 9/11 in two ways. It has lied about what happened to the three towers, and it has steadfastly covered up a second derivative mass tragedy. Ultimately, Peenack, Bush, and Cheney will have been responsible for the biggest American mass killing since Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki, massacres that also were inflicted for no good reason by America the Beautiful.

The truth about the asbestos fiber horror story is not likely to be widely disseminated in the U.S., and even it does get broad exposure, it will have further negative results in that it will provide more ammunition for the warmongers supporting the nouveau crusades against Muslim nations. The NYC horror story would surely be used by right-wingers to further bolster their support of endless wars and occupations of Arab countries because payback would be due for the second horror that had been imposed on NYC by the inherently evil Muslims.

I maintain that the complete story of 9/11 is still unfolding in dark cloakrooms and corridors up on the Hill. I also maintain that countless lawmakers have received generous amounts of bribe money to vote against making the insertion of asbestos into concrete and countless other products illegal. The Western European governments, by the way, have banned asbestos in almost all products, especially building materials.

(Does it ever occur to you that Western Europe is the center of civilization, and the USA is a flag bearer for militaristic, primitive savagery?)

Asbestos fiber is extremely strong, which is why concrete manufacturers have fought to keep it in their products. They know very well that their products are killing people, but the major sellers of cement have somehow resisted the efforts of the Invisible Hand, which is supposed to be protecting Americans from the horrors of asbestosis caused by deadly fibers.

If you own a cement driveway that needs replacement, do not allow the contractor to saw or drill the existing driveway prior to carting it away in pieces. They have equipment for breaking the driveway up into large pieces, which can be safely loaded and carried away for disposal. Sawing concrete creates huge, billowing clouds of asbestos-loaded clouds of dust which will invade your home even though your doors and windows a locked tight. Don't let the contractor tell you differently. Hire somebody who knows the dangers and how to deal with them. If you want some real honesty, be holding voice recorder in your hand as you discuss the project with a possible contractor.

As a final suggestion, start paying attention to the plethora of attorneys advertising on TV for mesothelioma victims across America. A broad range of products contain asbestos fibers, which helps explain the epidemic of this horrible disease in America. One realizes we are in trouble when  attorneys spend millions advertising for asbestos victims. Of course, it is almost certain local attorney ads will be heavy in NYC.

You know what? I finally have to concede that I don't like the way this country is being run. And I especially have come to hold capitalism in great disregard. I trust that I am not shocking you.

Footnote: I'd love to see a reporter read this list to Sarah Palin to get her reactions to each item. She is currently being idolized, sanctified, and worshipped by Limbaugh. He is a very powerful opinion shaper, so it would be interesting to see how she would dance around each of these quotes.

A spate of cancer-related illnesses among New York's rescue services who worked at Ground Zero sparks fear of an epidemic

Wednesday 11 November 2009 - The chemicals and toxic fumes from New York's Twin Towers on September 11 2001 may have a long-term effect on rescue workers.

A spate of recent deaths of New York police and fire officers who took part in the emergency operation at Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks has heightened fears that it could be the start of a delayed epidemic of cancer-related illness.

Five firefighters and police officers, all of whom were involved in the rescue and clear-up at the site of the collapsed Twin Towers, have died of cancer in the past three months, the oldest being 44. Three died last month within a four-day period.

Those three were Robert Grossman, a Harlem-based police officer who spent several weeks at the emergency site and died of a brain tumour aged 41; fellow police officer Cory Diaz, 37; and firefighter Richard Mannetta, 44.

In addition, John McNamara, a 44-year-old firefighter, died in September; and Renee Dunbar, a police officer in her late 30s, died in August.

The cluster of cancer deaths comes as Congress is under pressure to pass legislation that would provide federal help to emergency workers who have contracted illnesses since 9/11. Campaigners hope that a bill will be put to the House of Representatives by the end of the year that would set up a $10bn (£6bn) national fund for hundreds of people who now have cancer, respiratory illnesses and other diseases that may be linked to their work at the World Trade Centre site.

Up to 70,000 people took part in the massive operation at Ground Zero, including police, firefighters and construction workers who came to New York voluntarily from all over the US. Many worked for months amid a toxic soup of dust and chemicals.

Amid the pollutants within the giant pile of 1.8m tons of debris and the surrounding air were 90,000 litres of jet fuel from the two stricken planes, about 1,000 tons of asbestos that was used in the construction of the Twin Towers, pulverised lead from computers, mercury and highly carcinogenic by-products from the burning of plastics and chlorinated chemicals.

No official tally is available for the number of those who have died as a result of the 9/11 clear-up. The New York state health department has recorded 817 deaths of emergency workers but it cannot confirm categorically how many of those were directly linked to the site.

Federal funds for ill emergency workers ran out in 2003 and, since then, the onus has fallen on cash-strapped New York city, which is facing up to 10,000 claims for compensation through the courts. Families of those who have died say that the burden should be shouldered by the nation as a whole.

Robert Grossman's father, Stephen, drew a parallel with the $3bn the federal government spent this year on buying up old cars under the "cash-for-clunkers" scheme. "They spent that, but they don't have a dime for people who volunteered after 9/11 and ended up giving their lives for their country."

The 911 Police Aid Foundation, a group run by and for sick police officers, says it is helping more than 100 officers who worked at Ground Zero and who now have cancer. The group is receiving new cases at a rate of about one a week, many of which are extremely rare at such young ages.

Michael Valentin, who volunteers for the group, spent about four months working around the pile of debris from the towers. He now has lymphatic tumours in his chest, as well as asbestos poisoning.

"We all have terminal illnesses, we are all going to die. We just want to help others by showing them that they are not alone," he said.

The bill currently before Congress, which is named after James Zadroga, a police officer who died in 2006, would provide for the health monitoring and treatment of an additional 15,000 emergency workers. Paradoxically, it would not cover cancer, which was not perceived as a priority at the time the legislation was drafted though numbers have escalated since then.

Claire Calladine, a campaigner who runs the organisation 9/11 Health Now, said the fear was that the recent rise in cancer cases was just the start.

"We have only seen the tip of the iceberg. How bad will it get - that is the big question."
