December 31st 2009 - According to all international law and conventions, what the armed gofers of the criminal cartel are doing in their killing fields in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Africa a.s.o. are pure war crimes. Those crimes against humanity are morally or in any other way defendable. The only goal of the illegal invasions and the killing, is the robbery of resources at any price to the others.
Then ten people killed now again in Afghanistan, of which eight small children, were described by the Dutch media as 'young Taliban fighters.' It is absolutely incomprehensible how those propagandists can stoop so low concerning human lives. They live with millions of illegally killed and suffering human beings in those countries, and just do their collaborating work? And the PM's, the members of parliament everywhere? The moral knights? Where are they? Do the leaders of China and Russia for instance ask for a real investigation of the inside job by the Mossad and CIA of 9/11? No! So they are complicit, all of them, and must be judged thereafter.
In The Atlantic today, it's asked whether those killings in Afghanistan should be seen as a war crime? Of course they are! And the have been like that always. The criminal cartel with the armed robbers and the brainwashed cannon-fodder of the US/UK's usurped NATO, with its israeli and other killing and drilling mercenaries and contractors is too bad for words. And they are all war criminals doing the cartel's bidding. In Afghanistan the CIA has for the cartel's Big Pharma and 'drugs department' secured ninety-three percent of the world's heroin market, because in Afghanistan the CIA and collaborators cultivate the poppy fields. NATO KILLERS SHOOT TEN: EIGHT CHILDREN
In The Atlantic from Kabul it was published what Afghanistan's US stooge Karzai anyhow for 'the PR show' is claiming: “The delegation concluded that a unit of international forces descended from a plane Sunday night into Ghazi Khan Village in Narang district of the eastern province of Kunar and took 10 people from three homes, eight of them school students in grades six, nine and 10, one of them a guest, the rest from the same family, and shot them dead,” said a statement from the president’s office.
Mr. Karzai, the statement added, “was deeply grieved at the loss of civilians and assured the mourning families of his every effort for a serious and thorough investigation and said perpetrators would be legally dealt with.”
But this traitor Karzai did not say again how. With the article in 'The Atlantic' a photo was published of the protests against the umpteenth time that innocent children and elder people for nothing were killed: " Afghan demonstrators hold banners and placards while shouting anti US slogans during a protest rally in Kabul on December 30, 2009, against the alleged killing of 10 people including eight children in the easten province of Kunar.

When US Major General Smedley Butler, USMC, in his now famous speech, delivered in 1933, stated that "War is a Racket" and always has been, he was totally right. But it's because of Internet we can read it now and learn, because it was nowhere on the globe in our so called 'history' books. Nowhere! But what he said than is how the situation globally is now still. People lie and others die, while the cartel and its collaborators make fat profits. And for a short while have the geopolitical armed power too. Major General Smedley Butler said this, and every word is true today concerning the robbing killers in so called 'wars':
"It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. A racket is best described, I believe, as something that is not what it seems to the majority of the people. Only a small "inside" group knows what it is about. It is conducted for the benefit of the very few, at the expense of the very many. Out of war a few people make huge fortunes.
In the World War [I] a mere handful garnered the profits of the conflict. At least 21,000 new millionaires and billionaires were made in the United States during the World War. That many admitted their huge blood gains in their income tax returns. How many other war millionaires falsified their tax returns no one knows.
How many of these war millionaires shouldered a rifle? How many of them dug a trench? How many of them knew what it meant to go hungry in a rat-infested dug-out? How many of them spent sleepless, frightened nights, ducking shells and shrapnel and machine gun bullets? How many of them parried a bayonet thrust of an enemy? How many of them were wounded or killed in battle? Out of war nations acquire additional territory, if they are victorious. They just take it. This newly acquired territory promptly is exploited by the few – the selfsame few who wrung dollars out of blood in the war. The general public shoulders the bill.
AND WHAT IS THIS BILL?
This bill renders a horrible accounting. Newly placed gravestones. Mangled bodies. Shattered minds. Broken hearts and homes. Economic instability. Depression and all its attendant miseries. Back-breaking taxation for generations and generations.
For a great many years, as a soldier, I had a suspicion that war was a racket; not until I retired to civil life did I fully realize it. Now that I see the international war clouds gathering, as they are today, I must face it and speak out.
Butler: And let us not forget the bankers who financed the great war. If anyone had the cream of the profits it was the bankers. Being partnerships rather than incorporated organizations, they do not have to report to stockholders. And their profits were as secret as they were immense. How the bankers made their millions and their billions I do not know, because those little secrets never become public – even before a Senate investigatory body.
WELL, it's a racket, all right.
A few profit – and the many pay. But there is a way to stop it. You can't end it by disarmament conferences. You can't eliminate it by peace parleys at Geneva. Well-meaning but impractical groups can't wipe it out by resolutions. It can be smashed effectively only by taking the profit out of war.
The only way to smash this racket is to conscript capital and industry and labor before the nations manhood can be conscripted. One month before the Government can conscript the young men of the nation – it must conscript capital and industry and labor.
Let the officers and the directors and the high-powered executives of our armament factories and our munitions makers and our shipbuilders and our airplane builders and the manufacturers of all the other things that provide profit in war time as well as the bankers and the speculators, be conscripted – to get $30 a month, the same wage as the lads in the trenches get.
Let the workers in these plants get the same wages – all the workers, all presidents, all executives, all directors, all managers, all bankers –
yes, and all generals and all admirals and all officers and all politicians and all government office holders – everyone in the nation be restricted to a total monthly income not to exceed that paid to the soldier in the trenches!
Let all these kings and tycoons and masters of business and all those workers in industry and all our senators and governors and majors pay half of their monthly $30 wage to their families and pay war risk insurance and buy Liberty Bonds. Why shouldn't they? They aren't running any risk of being killed or of having their bodies mangled or their minds shattered. They aren't sleeping in muddy trenches. They aren't hungry. The soldiers are!
Give capital and industry and labor thirty days to think it over and you will find, by that time, there will be no war. That will smash the war racket – that and nothing else. Maybe I am a little too optimistic. Capital still has some say. So capital won't permit the taking of the profit out of war until the people – those who do the suffering and still pay the price – make up their minds that those they elect to office shall do their bidding, and not that of the profiteers.
WHO PAYS THE BILLS?
Who provides the profits – these nice little profits of 20, 100, 300, 1,500 and 1,800 per cent? We all pay them – in taxation. We paid the bankers their profits when we bought Liberty Bonds at $100.00 and sold them back at $84 or $86 to the bankers. These bankers collected $100 plus. It was a simple manipulation. The bankers control the security marts. It was easy for them to depress the price of these bonds. Then all of us – the people – got frightened and sold the bonds at $84 or $86. The bankers bought them. Then these same bankers stimulated a boom and government bonds went to par – and above. Or visit any of the veteran's hospitals in the United States. On a tour of the country, in the midst of which I am at the time of this writing, I have visited eighteen government hospitals for veterans. In them are a total of about 50,000 destroyed men – men who were the pick of the nation eighteen years ago. The very able chief surgeon at the government hospital; at Milwaukee, where there are 3,800 of the living dead, told me that mortality among veterans is three times as great as among those who stayed at home.
Boys with a normal viewpoint were taken out of the fields and offices and factories and classrooms and put into the ranks. There they were remolded; they were made over; they were made to "about face"; to regard murder as the order of the day. They were put shoulder to shoulder and, through mass psychology, they were entirely changed. We used them for a couple of years and trained them to think nothing at all of killing or of being killed.
Then, suddenly, we discharged them and told them to make another "about face" ! This time they had to do their own readjustment, sans [without] mass psychology, sans officers' aid and advice and sans nation-wide propaganda. We didn't need them any more. So we scattered them about without any "three-minute" or "Liberty Loan" speeches or parades. Let the workers in these plants get the same wages – all the workers, all presidents, all executives, all directors, all managers, all bankers –
yes, and all generals and all admirals and all officers and all politicians and all government office holders – everyone in the nation be restricted to a total monthly income not to exceed that paid to the soldier in the trenches!
Let all these kings and tycoons and masters of business and all those workers in industry and all our senators and governors and majors pay half of their monthly $30 wage to their families and pay war risk insurance and buy Liberty Bonds. Why shouldn't they? They aren't running any risk of being killed or of having their bodies mangled or their minds shattered. They aren't sleeping in muddy trenches. They aren't hungry. The soldiers are!
Give capital and industry and labor thirty days to think it over and you will find, by that time, there will be no war. That will smash the war racket – that and nothing else. Maybe I am a little too optimistic. Capital still has some say. So capital won't permit the taking of the profit out of war until the people – those who do the suffering and still pay the price – make up their minds that those they elect to office shall do their bidding, and not that of the profiteers.
WHO PAYS THE BILLS?
Who provides the profits – these nice little profits of 20, 100, 300, 1,500 and 1,800 per cent? We all pay them – in taxation. We paid the bankers their profits when we bought Liberty Bonds at $100.00 and sold them back at $84 or $86 to the bankers. These bankers collected $100 plus. It was a simple manipulation. The bankers control the security marts. It was easy for them to depress the price of these bonds. Then all of us – the people – got frightened and sold the bonds at $84 or $86. For several months, senior administration officials have been quietly deliberating behind closed doors how much to disclose to the world about extraterrestrial life. Dissatisfaction among powerful institutions such as the U.S. Navy over the decades-long secrecy policy has given a boost to efforts to disclose the reality of extraterrestrial life and technology.
The impending disclosure announcement follows upon the secret implementation of a year long openness policy on UFOs and extraterrestrial life. Over the period February 12-14, 2008, the United Nations held closed doors discussions where approximately 30 nations secretly agreed on a new openness policy on UFOs and extraterrestrial life in 2009.
The openness policy was implemented but never publicly announced due to threats against UN diplomats not to disclose details of the secret agreement.
The secret UN agreement was based on two conditions.
1. First, UFOs would continue to appear around the world
2. Second, the openness policy would not lead to social unrest in liberal democracies
Both conditions have been satisfied making it possible for the next stage to begin – official disclosure of extraterrestrial life. Obama’s September 24, 2009 chairing of the UN Security Council meeting on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament, signaled his emerging leadership role in tackling major global issues such as nuclear weapons.
The Nobel Peace Prize was an important step in giving global legitimacy to President Obama in making an extraterrestrial disclosure announcement. TSA Customer Support Manager Bob Kapp says the machine is still in the testing stages. It's said to be in use at London's Heathrow Airport and is being tested in Orlando. The new EU regulation, which will be binding on Britain, is intended to enter into force across the continent by the end of April 2010.
Dominic Grieve, Shadow Home Secretary, stressed that while body scanners may be an effective security tool "the implementation must be carried out by the British government in a proportionate manner, based on UK security requirements rather than the dictates of Brussels".
"Ministers need to explain publicly and transparently what these proposals are and why they are suitable to the UK," he said.
The new imaging technology creates an image of an unclothed body which privacy critics argue "amounts to a virtual strip search" has been tested on a voluntary basis at Heathrow's Terminal Four. But the trial has now been discontinued, said a Heathrow spokeswoman.
Air passengers scanned by the new technology walk into a large booth where electromagnetic waves are beamed on to their body to create a virtual three-dimensional "naked" image from reflected energy.
Many travellers have been alarmed by the graphic nature of the black and white images body scanners generate – including revealing outlines of genitalia – raising concerns about privacy.
Gareth Crossman, Director of Policy at Liberty, said: "I don't think people are aware of what these scanners can do and how demeaning it is to have your body on display. Heathrow was right to discontinue their use and they should not be used in Britain except as an alternative to strip searches."
Security officials in the United States have pioneered use of the scanners at New York and Los Angeles airports because the technology reveals the contours of the body, picking up hidden items, such as guns or knives, more effectively than standard physical "pat-down" checks.

He added: "It would appear that this is yet another case of 'if it is technologically possible it should be used' without any consideration of proportionality, privacy and civil liberties."
Paolo Costa, Chairman of the European Parliament's Transport Committee, is concerned over the safety of the new technology and how "nude" images of passengers will be viewed, then stored, by security officials.
"What will the impact of the use of body scanners be on passenger health? What will the impact be on passenger privacy?," he wrote in a letter to the Commission last week.
"How will the image data be held and how will it be destroyed?
Timothy Kirkhope, a Conservative Euro-MP who sits on the transport committee, is concerned that the new security regulations will be introduced without discussion or consultation with the travelling public.
"It must not be the case that unelected Commission officials, or security bureaucrats, can introduce these measures without elected MEPs or MPs being able to anything about it," he said." - [end story]

TSA Customer Support Manager Bob Kapp says the machine is still in the testing stages. It's said to be in use at London's Heathrow Airport and is being tested in Orlando. Passengers are given the option of pat downs or X-ray screening. Denver International Airport does not have one of the machines yet, but Kapp says' it has been requested'. He says it's much more thorough than a physical search and would speed up the screening process for passengers."

ISRAEL: A MONSTER BEYOND CONTROL?

27 December, 2009 - On the first anniversary of the beginning of Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip – in my view it was a demonstration of Israeli state terrorism at its most naked – it’s not enough to say that the governments of the Western powers (and others) are complicit in Israel’s on-going collective punishment of 1.5 million Palestinians, 53% of whom are children.
What is actually happening in the blockaded Gaza Strip, and less obviously on the occupied West Bank, is the continuation by stealth of Zionism’s ethnic cleansing of Palestine. My friend Professor Ilan Pappe, Israel’s leading “revisionist” (meaning honest) historian and author of The Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine, would and has put it another way. What we are witnessing is, in his words, “genocide in slow motion.” And that, really, is what the governments of the Western powers (and others) are complicit in.
The question that provokes in my mind is: Why, really, are the major powers (and others) allowing it to happen?
The only answer that makes some sense to me is this. They have concluded, but cannot say, that nuclear-armed Israel, with the assistance of the Zionist lobby in all of its manifestations, is a monster beyond control.
In my analysis it’s possible to identify the moment in history when the major powers abandoned any hope they might have had of containing Zionism’s colonial ambitions.
It came, the moment, in the immediate aftermarth of the 1967 war.
Contrary to Zionism’s version of the story, it was a war of Israeli aggression not self-defense. As I document in some detail in my book Zionism: The Real Enemy of the Jews, Israel’s military and political leaders knew the Arabs were not intending to attack.
That being so, what the major powers ought to have said to Israel (in the diplomatic language of a Security Council Resolution and more explicitly behind closed doors) is something like: “Aggression cannot be rewarded. Aggressors cannot keep territory conquered in war. You are now required to get the hell out of it without laying down conditions for your withdrawal.”
To drive home the point, they could and should have reminded Israel of what President Eisenhower said to the people of America when he demanded Israel’s unconditional withdrawal from Egyptian territory after its collusion with Britain and France in 1956. Eisenhower, the first and the last American president to contain Zionism, said this:
“If we agree that armed attack can properly achieve the purposes of the assailant, then I fear we will have turned back the clock of international order. We will have countenanced the use of force as a means of settling international differences and gaining national advantage… If the UN once admits that international disputes can be settled using force, then we will have destroyed the very foundation of the organisation and our best hope for establishing a real world order.”
THE USS LIBERTY
As it happened, the major powers could not say that to Israel in 1967 because the Johnson administration had colluded with Israel to the extent of giving it the greenlight to smash Eygpt’s armed forces, in the hope that a humiliating defeat for them would lead to the overthrow of President Nasser.
But also true is that President Johnson sought and obtained an assurance that Israel would not take advantage of the war situation to grab Jordanian and Syrian territory.
It was because some in the Johnson administration (probably Defense Secretary McNamara and the Joint Chiefs of Staff) didn’t trust Israel to keep its word that the U.S. spy ship, the Liberty, was stationed off the Israel/Gaza coast to listen to IDF movement orders. And it was because Israeli Defense Minister Dayan didn’t want Johnson to know that he intended to take the West Bank and the Golan Heights that he, Dayan, ordered the attack on the Liberty.

Despite that, the major powers, including and led by America, could still have acted firmly to contain Zionism’s colonial ambitions. They could have said to Israel something like: “We can just about live with the fact that you will retain the newly occupied Arab territories as a bargaining chip, to be exchanged for peace with your Arab neighbours, but we will not allow you to settle those territories. Not one building. If you defy us on this matter, the Security Council will authorize enforcement action as necessary to oblige you to comply with international law.”
In what became Security Council Resolution 242, it was the failure of the major powers to read the riot act to Israel on the matter of not settling the newly occupied territories that marks the moment when they, the major powers, became resigned to the fact that the Zionist state, assisted by its awesomely powerful global lobby, was a monster they could not control. (They could slap it on the wrist from time to time but not control it).
The lesson of the cold-blooded attack on the Liberty was that there is nothing the Zionist state might not do, to its friends as well as its enemies, in order to get its own way. (In my book I explain, on the basis of a conversation with Dayan, the real reason for Israel’s decision to acquire a nuclear arsenal. It was to have the deterrent threat capability of saying to its friends, “Don’t push us further than we are prepared to go or we’ll use these things.”)
So in the full light of the truth of history as it relates to the making and sustaining of conflict in and over Palestine that became Israel, it’s not surprising that the major powers (and others) are today complicit, more by default than design I say, in Zionism’s crimes." - [and end]

As a New Year approaches, I am reminded of my early efforts to expose Obama and the resulting wholesale unsubscribing of 90% of my readership. (My apologies for harping on this subject.) Since then, not one single unsubscriber has returned to the fold. Mind you, this is not whining. I am mostly puzzled. These are for the most part intelligent, educated people. Yet it would seem they still are blindly clinging to a charismatic leader who is demonstrably a closet authoritarian. Sigh. The first time a reader returns to the fold, I will announce it here in capital letters!
Back to my chosen mission.
The worst thing Obama has done so far is to enlarge the scope of Amerika's military imperialism. As I've repeatedly said, this is an offshoot of his many years of association with the Trilateral Commission, which is deeply committed to the creation of a 'new world order', which of course would be overseen by Amerika. As recently pointed out by one of the few experts on modern day Afghanistan, there are no more than 100 men in all of Afghanistan who see themselves as al Qaeda fighters. That, of course, suggests that Obama is not miring Amerika in another Vietnam for the reason he has so glibly offered, which is to wage a struggle against 'evil' and its purveyors (i.e. that vast hidden army of America haters known as 'al Qaeda').
While doing that, which is the worst thing he has committed himself and this nation to, he has very quietly, almost secretly, followed a plan to sabotage public education and replace it primarily with private schools with an authoritarian form of discipline imbedded in a latter day medieval scholasticism, both in teaching and curriculum. Permit me to repeat myself: I made this claim early on when Obama chose Arne Duncan for Secretary of Education. That Duncan is a right-wing, militaristic, sadistic, autocratic educator is confirmed by a look at what he did to the Chicago school system while in charge of that hapless system.
This man is not even an educator. He is at bottom a medieval militarist who would like to privatize and militarize the entire public education system in Amerika. This effort, if it succeeds, will be one of the most hideous of Obama's actions and policies.
I've been waiting for a decent analysis of what is now underway in the American educational system. Wouldn't you know it. When such an article finally appeared, it was at the democratic socialist website. Jerry White has written a fine article underlining the current actions within the school system and the overriding doctrine of Duncan and Obama. IMHO this is a very important analysis, one of the most important to be printed since the TC put Obama in the White House. Take the time to read it.
Democratic socialists usually have excellent antennae for picking up on the goals of the growing body of closet neofascists in Amerika. They, after all, have always been the first to be attacked by neo-fascists. World War I was an insane dedication to human carnage driven by a conflict between Western nations over the dividing of natural resources in Africa and Asia. It was not a product of the assassination in Austria-Hungary of the Archduke Ferdinand. That solitary act was merely a convenient excuse for the launching of the world's greatest capitalism-driven conflict. No western nation had an attachment to the duke strong enough to propel them into a bloody war. When I say Duncan and Obama have launched a reformation of American education that is perilous, I am looking ahead to the generation of young people who emerge from that educational system with an authoritarian ethos. FORECLOSE BANKS? ZEITGEIST AND ICELANDIC GEOTHERMAL ENERGY
December 21st 2009 - Commenting on the story below by Ted Rall, are many who offer solutions too. It's about how to get of the grid for instance, and the very good video Zeitgeist shows the road we're on now. And it's a road to the usury hell, deeper and deeper into the web of debt we're in. Rall had a good idea which in reality won't work I'm afraid. The financial powers behind the foreclosures are very strong. And they globally control te fraudulent monetary flow. How to Give America Its Best Christmas Ever!
December 19, 2009 "Information Clearing House" -- NEW YORK - Citibank is suspending foreclosures and evictions for 30 days, until after the holidays.
Mighty white of them.
Who knew bankers could be so amusing? In an interview, Citi mortgage czar Sanjiv Das acknowledged that "moratoriums are not permanent solutions" and said his company was looking for "some long-term fundamental alternatives" to throwing people out of their homes because they've fallen behind on their payments. But he didn't offer a specific example.
Here, allow me. There's one "long-term fundamental alternative" that's righteous, makes sense, and legal: Let's foreclose on the banks. It's time for the U.S. government to show Mr. Das and his buddies down at the country club who is the boss.
Seriously. Yes we can.
But first, let's go back to February 2009. Ah, February: a new president, hope and change in the air. Especially for bankers.
President Obama's TARP program doled out hundreds of billions of federal taxdollars to gangster capitalists like Citibank and Bank of America, which get off on charging $4 for using ATMs and 29.99 percent interest in credit cards.
The big banks were supposed to use TARP cash to buy back "toxic assets" backed by home loans to distressed homeowners, thus loosening the mortgage credit market. In fact, The Los Angeles Times reported a few days ago, "The fund has done little to address that problem directly." Instead, the feds bought bank stock at over-market prices.
In exchange for those bailouts, the banks were expected to free up credit.
They didn't. They haven't. Instead, they gave obscene raises to their already overpaid executives. They remodeled their plush offices. Now their loan officers are sitting on their hands, laughing all the way to their own banks.
There's still money in the U.S. economy. But it's not moving around--and extreme lack of liquidity is the definition of a Depression with no end in sight. As anyone who runs a small business can attest, the same dirtbag bankers who were lending to anyone and everyone two years ago have suddenly become tightwad tight-asses. Consumers with high credit ratings have seen their credit limits slashed. Banks are even refusing to refinance high-interest home loans at today's rates, reasoning that lower property values have reduced the value of their collateral--thus ensuring still more foreclosures in 2010.
Because the Obama Administration didn't pressure them, the banks stonewalled the president's $75 billion loan modification program, which was supposed to reduce payments for the approximately ten million Americans who face foreclosure.
JPMorganChase, for example, blew off or rejected 85 percent of homeowners who asked them for help. That's better than Citibank, which enrolled 100,000 distressed homeowners in the program but only managed to actually modify loans to 270. And it's a lot better than Bank of America, bringing up the rear with a pathetic whopping 98 modifications out of the 160,000 borrowers who signed up as of the end of November.
More lowlights:
One out of seven American homeowners will probably lose their homes by the end of 2010.
Only 4.7 percent of distressed homeowners who enrolled in the modification plan have gotten any help.
Out of Obama's $75 billion program, only $2.3 million has been spent--or 0.03 percent.
Obama's performance on the foreclosure crisis--along with unemployment, the biggest problem America faces--makes Bush's laissez faire approach to Hurricane Katrina look caring and loving in comparison. If ever there were a cause for impeachment, look no further.
No doubt recognizing political peril, Obama is now attempting to jawbone the banks into doing the right thing, even calling banking CEOs "fat cats" on "60 Minutes." Whatever.
"America's banks received extraordinary assistance from American taxpayers to rebuild their industry," Obama said after meeting with banking executives. "Now that they're back on their feet, we expect an extraordinary commitment from them to help rebuild our economy." But there were no teeth in his demand--just a polite pretty-please with a trillion-dollar-plus bailout on top.
But that's Obama's choice. If he wanted, he could foreclose on the banks--and personally give millions of desperate homeowners the best Christmas ever. Here's how: True, the Treasury Department didn't receive any written assurances from the banks that they would start lending again when they collected their bailout loot back in February. But as Obama recalled in the above quote, it was widely understood at the time that the federal government expected looser credit markets in exchange for the bailout. There were thousands of reports in the media to this effect, hundreds of statements by government officials, and--no doubt--dozens of discussions between government and bank lawyers to this effect. No one was confused. Everyone got it at the time.
Obviously Obama should have gotten it in writing. But the bailout-for-credit quid pro quo was a widely witnessed oral contract. And oral contracts are just as legally binding as written ones. The classic example of an oral contract is two roommates who agree to share an apartment. The lease may be in the name of one person, but the non-leaseholder may not skip out on the rent. But the stakes can be bigger. Pennzoil made a handshake deal--no contract--to buy Getty Oil in 1984 but then reneged in favor of another suitor, Texaco. Pennzoil sued and won $11.1 billion in damages.
The United States government could, and should, sue Citibank, Bank of America, JPMorganChase and other defaulting miscreants for breach of contract. With one out of seven Americans having been foreclosed upon by one of these institutions, it would be difficult to imagine any jury finding them not guilty. Mercy, after all, wasn't something these banks showed their victims. Since damages would likely exceed the defendants' ability to pay, the U.S. could then seize the banks. The newly nationalized banks, owned by we the people, could reduce or cancel outstanding mortgages to the unemployed, sick and other worthies. They could increase credit lines and start making loans again--you know, do what they promised to do. It wouldn't necessarily get us out of the Depression. But it would be a beginning.
Foreclose on the banks! It's fair. It's smart. And it's long overdue." - [and end]

To date, more than 759,000 trial loan modifications have been started, but just 31,382 have been converted to permanent new loans. That averages out to 4 percent, far below the 75 percent conversion rate President Barack Obama has said he seeks."

As I wrote: Ever thought about how it would be when you're on the street? Living at first maybe with some family or friends, but than - if you still own one - in your car, maybe on a parking lot. With an eventual wife, kids and the family pets? And no money coming in? How do you sleep and feed them? How does one shower? Dress? Go to the toilet? At present the homeless are a lot more than two and a half million in the US alone. And, no address means no vote either... And it's all planned and rigged...
I'm afraid that most people in many other countries outside of the USA don't get it, when EVERY DAY seven to twelve thousand people have to leave their home, and nobody reacts. The biggest heist in the history of mankind is being perpetrated, the criminals are also stealing the houses and billions upon billions of tax money - all over the world too - money taken from hard working people, to reward the criminals for their misdeeds. One wonders why they are still alive who do this? Or not in jail yet?
Why are not many more US americans - of those ten thousand and more homeless a day - getting too: "mad as hell, and not taking it anymore"? Where is their anger?
And when are the victims coming to grips with this orchestrated 'misfortune' they suffer, while the banking criminals get all the bailout $billions?
And the people which have been kicked out of their home just stand there, hungry, and at night in the cold with their possible family, maybe a pet, but empty bank accounts and hands? Not even anymore having a window to shout from...
Everything is stolen from them, and they don't react? I think that I'm not the only one who really doesn't get it.

How to Give America Its Best Christmas Ever!
December 19, 2009 "Information Clearing House" -- NEW YORK - Citibank is suspending foreclosures and evictions for 30 days, until after the holidays.

Who knew bankers could be so amusing? In an interview, Citi mortgage czar Sanjiv Das acknowledged that "moratoriums are not permanent solutions" and said his company was looking for "some long-term fundamental alternatives" to throwing people out of their homes because they've fallen behind on their payments. But he didn't offer a specific example.
Here, allow me. There's one "long-term fundamental alternative" that's righteous, makes sense, and legal: Let's foreclose on the banks. It's time for the U.S. government to show Mr. Das and his buddies down at the country club who is the boss.
Seriously. Yes we can.
But first, let's go back to February 2009. Ah, February: a new president, hope and change in the air. Especially for bankers.
President Obama's TARP program doled out hundreds of billions of federal taxdollars to gangster capitalists like Citibank and Bank of America, which get off on charging $4 for using ATMs and 29.99 percent interest in credit cards.
The big banks were supposed to use TARP cash to buy back "toxic assets" backed by home loans to distressed homeowners, thus loosening the mortgage credit market. In fact, The Los Angeles Times reported a few days ago, "The fund has done little to address that problem directly." Instead, the feds bought bank stock at over-market prices.
In exchange for those bailouts, the banks were expected to free up credit.
They didn't. They haven't. Instead, they gave obscene raises to their already overpaid executives. They remodeled their plush offices. Now their loan officers are sitting on their hands, laughing all the way to their own banks.
There's still money in the U.S. economy. But it's not moving around--and extreme lack of liquidity is the definition of a Depression with no end in sight. As anyone who runs a small business can attest, the same dirtbag bankers who were lending to anyone and everyone two years ago have suddenly become tightwad tight-asses. Consumers with high credit ratings have seen their credit limits slashed. Banks are even refusing to refinance high-interest home loans at today's rates, reasoning that lower property values have reduced the value of their collateral--thus ensuring still more foreclosures in 2010.
Because the Obama Administration didn't pressure them, the banks stonewalled the president's $75 billion loan modification program, which was supposed to reduce payments for the approximately ten million Americans who face foreclosure.
JPMorganChase, for example, blew off or rejected 85 percent of homeowners who asked them for help. That's better than Citibank, which enrolled 100,000 distressed homeowners in the program but only managed to actually modify loans to 270. And it's a lot better than Bank of America, bringing up the rear with a pathetic whopping 98 modifications out of the 160,000 borrowers who signed up as of the end of November.
More lowlights:
One out of seven American homeowners will probably lose their homes by the end of 2010.
Only 4.7 percent of distressed homeowners who enrolled in the modification plan have gotten any help.
Out of Obama's $75 billion program, only $2.3 million has been spent--or 0.03 percent.
Obama's performance on the foreclosure crisis--along with unemployment, the biggest problem America faces--makes Bush's laissez faire approach to Hurricane Katrina look caring and loving in comparison. If ever there were a cause for impeachment, look no further.
No doubt recognizing political peril, Obama is now attempting to jawbone the banks into doing the right thing, even calling banking CEOs "fat cats" on "60 Minutes." Whatever.
"America's banks received extraordinary assistance from American taxpayers to rebuild their industry," Obama said after meeting with banking executives. "Now that they're back on their feet, we expect an extraordinary commitment from them to help rebuild our economy." But there were no teeth in his demand--just a polite pretty-please with a trillion-dollar-plus bailout on top.
But that's Obama's choice. If he wanted, he could foreclose on the banks--and personally give millions of desperate homeowners the best Christmas ever. Here's how: True, the Treasury Department didn't receive any written assurances from the banks that they would start lending again when they collected their bailout loot back in February. But as Obama recalled in the above quote, it was widely understood at the time that the federal government expected looser credit markets in exchange for the bailout. There were thousands of reports in the media to this effect, hundreds of statements by government officials, and--no doubt--dozens of discussions between government and bank lawyers to this effect. No one was confused. Everyone got it at the time.
Obviously Obama should have gotten it in writing. But the bailout-for-credit quid pro quo was a widely witnessed oral contract. And oral contracts are just as legally binding as written ones. The classic example of an oral contract is two roommates who agree to share an apartment. The lease may be in the name of one person, but the non-leaseholder may not skip out on the rent. But the stakes can be bigger. Pennzoil made a handshake deal--no contract--to buy Getty Oil in 1984 but then reneged in favor of another suitor, Texaco. Pennzoil sued and won $11.1 billion in damages.
The United States government could, and should, sue Citibank, Bank of America, JPMorganChase and other defaulting miscreants for breach of contract. With one out of seven Americans having been foreclosed upon by one of these institutions, it would be difficult to imagine any jury finding them not guilty. Mercy, after all, wasn't something these banks showed their victims. Since damages would likely exceed the defendants' ability to pay, the U.S. could then seize the banks. The newly nationalized banks, owned by we the people, could reduce or cancel outstanding mortgages to the unemployed, sick and other worthies. They could increase credit lines and start making loans again--you know, do what they promised to do. It wouldn't necessarily get us out of the Depression. But it would be a beginning.
